INET99.id – Information regarding an alleged attack involving 91 Ukrainian drones targeting one of the residences of Russian President Vladimir Putin has gone viral on social media in recent days.

The incident quickly drew international attention, particularly because it was said to have directly targeted property belonging to the Russian head of state amid the ongoing conflict.

The drone attack was also reported to have triggered a strong reaction from U.S. President Donald Trump, who was said to be angered by the attempted strike.

Tensions further escalated after Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that the attack would not go unanswered.

The warning was conveyed during a telephone conversation between Putin and President Donald Trump, during which they discussed the latest developments in the Russia–Ukraine conflict and the worsening security escalation.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov revealed that the drone attack occurred at one of Putin’s residences located in the Novgorod region, northwestern Russia.

According to Lavrov, the incident took place from Sunday night into early Monday local time.

Lavrov accused Ukraine of launching around 91 long-range drones in the attack.

However, he emphasized that all of the drones were successfully shot down by Russia’s air defense systems without causing any damage.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky firmly denied his country’s involvement in the incident.

The Russian government has continued to threaten retaliation against Ukraine after accusing nearly 100 drones of targeting President Putin’s residence.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy once again rejected Russia’s claims and stated that Ukraine was not involved in the attack.

Amid rising tensions, Russia was also reported to have launched attacks on Ukraine.

Russia released footage showing the deployment of the Oreshnik hypersonic missile system in Belarus.

Russia’s Ambassador to Belarus, Boris Gryzlov, used his New Year’s address to confirm the placement of the missile system.

“The Russian Oreshnik missile system has begun its combat duty in [Belarus]. This step is a clear confirmation of the effectiveness of the bilateral interstate agreement on security guarantees within the Union State, which came into force in March,” the statement read, as quoted by TASS.

The deployment of missiles in a country that directly borders NATO members and Ukraine comes amid heightened tensions as Russia’s war in Ukraine shows no signs of easing.
